DIORELLA · BEHIND THE EDIT
Imagine twenty vintage bags on a table. One carries the most famous logo. Another is the rarest. A third is in the cleanest condition. Which one belongs at Diorella?
Our answer is often not the most obvious one.
Before price, trend or recognition, we ask a harder question: if the logo were covered, would the design still hold your attention? That question explains Diorella better than any list of brand names.
The first value: Taste
Taste is not about declaring what is beautiful. It is the ability to recognise a clear design language: the tension of a proportion, the rhythm of hardware, the feeling a material creates, and the way an object changes when it meets the body.
We focus on distinctive pieces from the 1970s to the 2000s because those decades contain many identities beyond today’s most repeated icons. Some are architectural. Some are playful. Some are so quiet that their strength only appears when worn.
This is why non-mainstream matters to us. It does not mean choosing something unusual merely to be different. It means finding the design that reveals another side of a house—and perhaps another side of the person carrying it.
Three bags, three reasons to stop

A severe trapezoid softened by satin, interrupted by one sculptural ring. It attracts attention through line—not a loud logo.

Deep forest green, restrained geometry and one precise gold circle. Quiet from a distance; unmistakable up close.

A compact black handbag made distinctive by its oval turn-lock and carefully balanced top-handle proportion.
These pieces do not look alike—and that is the point. Diorella is not built around one silhouette or one decade. The connection is a design decision strong enough to survive beyond fashion’s immediate attention.
The second value: Discernment
Discernment begins where attraction ends. A bag can be beautiful and still be the wrong choice. We study proportion, construction, leather, stitching, hardware, function and condition. We ask whether the ageing is honest, whether the design remains usable, and whether the piece still has something relevant to say.
Every Diorella piece is sourced from Japan and authenticated there before it enters our collection. Authentication is essential—but it answers only one question: is it genuine? Curation must answer the next one: is it worth choosing?
This distinction matters. A famous name does not excuse a weak design. Rarity does not repair poor condition. And an immaculate surface cannot create character where none exists. Sometimes the most responsible—and most Diorella—decision is simply to say no.
Beyond the logo
Does the silhouette, material and detail remain compelling on their own?
Beyond “good condition”
Are the signs of age honest, clearly represented and suitable for real use?
Beyond the screen
Does the colour, scale and proportion feel right when the piece is worn?
The third value: Appreciation
Vintage asks us to see time differently. Softened leather, a gentle patina or a small trace of use can belong to the life of an object. Appreciation does not mean ignoring flaws. It means understanding them, describing them honestly, and caring for the piece so its next chapter can be longer than its last.
For us, sustainability is not a slogan added after purchase. It begins before purchase: choose more carefully, buy with conviction, and respect what already exists.
The final test cannot happen online
A photograph can show a bag. It cannot show how the strap sits on your shoulder, whether the colour warms your complexion, or whether the shape feels too formal—or exactly right—for your character.
That is why we believe the most reliable decision happens in store. At our Hong Kong boutiques, you can see the true colour and condition, try the proportions against your body, and discover whether the role imagined by the designer suits the life you actually live.

What Diorella is really selling
Not simply a vintage bag. Not only a famous name. We offer a point of view: a reason this particular piece, from this particular era, deserves to be seen again.
Our promise is simple. We will tell you what we notice, why we chose it, and what you should understand before choosing it for yourself.
